Kimberly Juroviesky, Founder & President of Healing Our Heroes Foundation, USAF, Captain, Ret/Disabled.
Kimberly Juroviesky, CAPT, USAF, Ret/Disabled, WHNP, CNM, is a disabled veteran who lives every day in horrible pain from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome as well as suffering with PTSD, Treatment Resistant Depression, Anxiety, & Suicidal Ideation. Kimberly served in the military as a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Midwife. Kimberly was injured on active duty while in the USAF during a training exercise which caused her to develop Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. She has limited use of her right arm and leg and this forced her to medically retire from her career early. Kimberly began getting Ketamine Infusions in 2015 as part of a research study. While they don’t make her pain levels disappear, they do bring them down to what she describes as “liveable levels”. Kimberly also found that the ketamine greatly helped her PTSD, depression, anxiety and reduced her suicidal ideation to very low levels. Kimberly was invited to attend a Ketamine retreat in 2021 the first of its kind. Kimberly found that getting ketamine combined with intensive therapy in a retreat setting with the proper support of a strong medical and therapy team made the results she experienced even better, After talking with other veterans she realized there was an incredible need for this sort of healing in the veteran community and from that Healing Our Heroes was born. Unfortunately though Kimberly’s multiple health issues limit her capability severely to do a lot of volunteer work therefore she reached out to fellow veterans and others to join her in helping veterans and first responders get access to low cost ketamine retreats.

Matt Car, Vice President
Matt Carr was medically-retired from the US Air Force at the rank of Captain in November 2015 following a non-combat-related injury sustained while on duty during a training exercise. He was originally commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2009, immediately beginning pilot training after attending AFROTC and graduating from Florida State University. During his career Matt was fortunate to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a pilot, becoming rated in both the F-16 and C-17. However, injuries precluded him from becoming fully operational and deploying. He developed significant chronic pain along with mental health challenges as a result of the injury, spinal cord damage, and nine neurosurgical operations. Before 2017 Matt’s then-pain physician was prescribing him 140mg daily of Oxymorphone (Opana) in an incredibly unsuccessful attempt to ignore life. With the help of family, and friends, while also tapping into savings and credit cards, Matt decided to start investing in himself and pursued more holistic approaches to healing that are unfortunately not typically covered by insurance. While meditation, acupuncture, functional medicine and medical cannabis are an amazing foundation that have all helped in his healing journey, he found psychedelic-assisted therapy to be the most transformative. It’s a catalyst, with the benefits extending to both his physical and mental well-being. Matt has since developed a deep passion for the healing potential of psychedelics and is dedicated to supporting fellow Veterans and others who have been overlooked or underserved by the medical system in their journey toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Kevin Martin, Treasurer
Kevin Martin served as a Cavalry Scout in the US Army from 2010 to 2013. During that time, he was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he received a Purple Heart after the vehicle he was riding in was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). Furthermore, during his eleven-month deployment, he was hit by a total of three IEDs, resulting in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Upon returning stateside, he began grappling with the debilitating effects of PTSD and depression. Despite years of unsuccessful therapies, treatments, and medical interventions, his journey took a transformative turn in 2018 when he initiated Ketamine infusions. Kevin’s experience with Ketamine therapy was nothing short of remarkable, as he quickly observed a substantial improvement in his cognition, emotional regulation, impulse control, and overall physical well-being. Kevin has since earned a Master’s degree from the University of Hawai at Manoa and currently works as a Project Manager for a specialty contractor that builds jails, police stations, courthouses, and hospitals across the Hawaiin Islands.

Lynn Watkins, Secretary
Lynn Watkins served nearly 25 years as a JAG Officer before being medically retired in 2017 due to her CRPS, PTSD, and other ailments.
Since 2003, when a strap was improperly placed across her waist during a shoulder surgery, her right femoral subcutaneous nerve was severed. This lead to the beginning of a 20+ year battle with significant chronic pain (CRPS, Type II, Full Body, with Brain Inflammation) and the mental health issues that went along with that pain.
While on terminal leave, Lynn began receiving high doses of ketamine infusions. They provided short periods of relief, but was incurring expenses quickly due to how frequently she needed treatment.
Lynn met Kimberly through the Ketamine Taskforce and joined the Healing our Heroes team as an advocate for ketamine therapy for veterans. She knows that this medication can help those who desperately need it, both physically and mentally. -
